Less than 24 hours after the New Zealand cricket team decided to leave their tour of Pakistan, the newly appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, on Saturday urged the players to channel their disappointment into their performance.
“Release your aggravation and fury by directing it into your performance,” stated the PCB chairman in a video message.
Once you’re a world-class squad, you’ll have a whole army of individuals wanting to join.
“It is likely that you may be requested to join a variety of games. So therefore, I want us to learn from this, and go on and keep our morale up. Don’t be disheartened.”
He said that both international and local cricket in Pakistan have been hampered because of the pressure put on the country. Good news is on the way, and shortly you will hear about it.
As a result, he said, the cricket team will now have to succeed as a world-class squad if it wants to overcome such obstacles and progress.
Cricket fans’ concerns were acknowledged by Raja, who told them that he felt their sorrow over the cancelled matches.
“This is a shared burden and no matter what occurred, it is not correct for Pakistani cricket,” he said.
He did warn supporters, though, that they should not give up hope. “We’ve been in this position before, but we always work through it. It is because of the fans and the cricket team that we have a lot of resiliency and strength “He then went on to say,
If international cricket is in jeopardy in Pakistan, we would do whatever is needed to solve the problem, he added. Even if we are unable to beat it, we have faith in our abilities to put together a world-class squad no matter what our level of play is like.”
In his plea to cricket fans, he encouraged them to keep supporting the squad and the sport’s forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
About a half-hour before the New Zealand cricket team was due to play their first match in Pakistan, the squad announced that they were withdrawing from the trip due to security concerns.
Angry and dismay: When New Zealand pulls out of the Pakistan trip at the last minute, they are very upset.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) praised Pakistan’s hospitality, but underscored the need for player safety. Although it did not address the specific specifics of the security concern, it did make note of it.
According to the PCB, the Pakistan Cricket Board asserts that the team has “robust security measures in place for all visiting teams” and they’ve “assured the NZC of the same.”
Cricket fans across the globe were upset by the New Zealand team’s unexpected departure from the tournament.
In the 18 years after the New Zealand cricket team last visited Pakistan, they landed there for the first time on September 11 to play three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals.
The first two One Day Internationals in the ODI series against New Zealand were to be played at the Rawalpindi Stadium, while further games were planned for September 17, 19, and 21 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
